Rules
1. Write in third person, past tense. For example: John walked up the stairs to his apartment and put his key in the lock.
NOT: I walk up the stairs to my apartment and put the key in the lock.
2. Post must be at least a decent sized paragraph long. I’m not asking for a novel, just enough detail and length that other members can reply easily.
3. If you post out of-character in an in-character thread, please use ((OOC)) and make that text smaller than your in-character text.
4. Be active. If you’re going to be away or unable to post, for whatever reason, post in the absences board. If it’s only for a few days, you need not post in the absences board, but if it’s more than a week and you don’t post in the absences board I might give you a warning.
5. Any member can join in any active role plays, unless the title of the thread specifies certain characters. Also, if two members are having an important discussion or key personal plot role plays in a thread, ask before joining in.
6. Avoid God Moding. For those of you who are unclear on what God Moding is, I highly recommend visiting the Wikipedia definition of it.
7. Use good grammar. This means good punctuation, capitalizing letters at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns (names), reading through your posts before you post them to make sure they make sense, etc.
8. No Mary Sues or Gary Stues. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s a Mary Sue. Another thing I hate is a Gary Stue. If I think your character sounds like a Mary Sue or a Gary Stue, I will refuse your application and direct you to the section after the test on this webpage. If you want to check that your character is not a Mary Sue or a Gary Stue, I’ve found this test to be very helpful.
9. Don’t post in character until your application has been approved. For one thing, there are a number of hidden boards accessible only by certain member groups, and I only assign member groups to approved members.
10. Don’t pester the staff. About anything. I mean it. Trust me, it won’t make us sympathetic to your cause, whatever it may be.
Signature, Avatars, Banners
For you avatars and banners, make sure it’s the celebrity you have chosen for your character. The reason is that no two characters can have the same celebrity (except for twins). And I’d rather you didn’t use anime characters. Also, your banner should be no bigger than 600x250. That’s 600 pixels wide by 250 high. If you think your banner might be bigger than that, I’d be more than happy to check it for you, and resize it for you if it’s too big. If your banner is too big, you will be notified.
Creatures
As I realize there might be more people wanting to be creatures than humans, for now I am limiting the number of creatures allowed on the board at 10. As soon as there are 10 or more humans, this number will increase, and I’ll post it in an announcement as well as changing it here. Also, I realise there might be a fair few people who want their character to be a half breed of some kind. For now, they fall under the ‘creatures’ category, so if there are already 10 creatures and you want your character to be a half breed, then I’m sorry, but you’ll either have to wait for there to be more humans, or create a human character. Or both.
Number of Characters Per Person
You can have up to 3 characters, on the conditions that you remain active with all 3, and that you create a separate account for each character. That goes for twins as well. On the note of twins, and this is just a tip, not a rule, I would recommend having two separate people playing twins. In my opinion, it makes it easier to keep both active. If you’re having trouble managing your characters, either kill one off or see if someone else wants to take it on. It’s entirely your choice, but once your character is dead, he or she stays dead. And if you agree to someone else playing your character, you can’t later reclaim it as your own.
